Task: automation of workplaces in the departments of the Russian railways carrier

The Russian railways carrier operates an extensive railway network covering dozens of regions. Thousands of automated workstations are used in control rooms, freight offices, train stations, repair depots and management departments. In 2024-2025, it was necessary to upgrade the ARM fleet in 8 regions of the Russian Federation with the replacement of outdated and imported equipment with Russian registered ones.

Key hardware requirements:

• working around the clock (24/7) with a high workload;
• compatibility with industry and Russian system software (including systems for dispatch centralization, cargo accounting, and electronic document management);
• uniformity of configurations to simplify administration and maintenance;
• availability of registration records of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for purchases under 44-FZ and 223-FZ.

Solution: 427 ARM Compact 23UB-06 and 24 ARM VSBS 01

The Russian Railways carrier's Competition committee selected RDW Computers equipment based on the following factors:

• availability of registration certificates of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the Compact 23UB-06 and VSBS 01 models.
compatibility with the operating systems Astra Linux, RED OS and Alt (confirmed by certificates). The compact form factor RDW Compact 23UB-06 (SFF) is optimal for placement on the desktops of dispatchers and operators. performance (Intel Core i5 processor, 16 GB DDR4, 256 GB SSD) for working with databases and dispatch systems in real time.
• The RDW VSBS 01 model (a specialized ARM in a "barebone" or mini-PC type enclosure) is designed for tasks with increased requirements for compactness and energy efficiency (24 pcs. for remote posts and control points).

The RDW 2701K monitors with a diagonal of 27 inches and a resolution up to QHD (2560-1440) provide a clear display of control charts, train schedules and electronic maps. Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light technologies reduce the strain on vision during long shifts (up to 12 hours).

The delivery covered 8 subjects of the Russian Federation. The equipment is distributed among stations, dispatch centers, locomotive and wagon depots, as well as administrative buildings of regional directorates of Russian Railways.

Result: ensuring the operation of railway transport using Russian equipment

427 ARM Compact 23UB-06, 24 ARM VSBS 01 and 427 monitors 2701K are put into operation. The replacement of imported equipment with a registered one allowed:

• to bring the ARM fleet in 8 regions of the Russian Federation to a single hardware platform;
• reduce downtime in case of failures due to warranty service (more than 500 service centers in Russia);
• ensure compliance with import substitution requirements for critical information infrastructure (CI) facilities in transport;
• unify the software installation and update processes.
