The Russian manufacturer of computer equipment, RDW Technology, has finally reached the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala. This city welcomed the participants of the largest VII Russian Internet forum "Caucasus", which was full of interesting discussions and fruitful work. The forum was held from 22 to 23 August. Its participants, and among the invited were representatives of companies engaged in Russian PC production, discussed priority issues and import substitution strategy. Fundamental questions were raised at the forum: by what means to protect information, to create which software products to direct the power of intelligence and how, in the absence of Russian analogues of the component base and technological chains, to produce computers of domestic production? Today, all these IT spheres are linked together by the state doctrine of technological sovereignty of Russia. It is on this intellectual and technological springboard that our own Russian technologies are being formed today, ready to compete with the global IT market.
It was the Russian production of personal computers that prompted RDW Technology to participate in the RIF. Caucasus-2022". And there were two significant reasons for this. We have shown ourselves and expressed our point of view. Firstly, in the exhibition exposition of the forum, all representatives of the North Caucasus region (and these are seven subjects of the Russian Federation) saw firsthand the Russian monoblock RDW Computers 23.8 inches based on Russian software from RED SOFT. And, secondly, Pavel KOVALENKO, a representative of RDW Technology, participated as a speaker in one of the most acute working sessions of the forum. Her topic: "Import Substitution – infrastructure solutions ». Along with RDW Technology, companies also developing the Russian production of personal computers were represented in the session. These are the manufacturers of ICL and Graviton computer equipment.
If we combine the collective thought of the participants in the discussion, the situation around import substitution today is more like a parable about blind men and an elephant. This "elephant" is described by each representative of the company from his side. And this is natural, because now every domestic manufacturer of computer equipment, at its own financial risk and reputational risk, is heading for import substitution.
Some suggest structuring and coordinating all import substitution work within a single information system in each region of the country. Others insist on a balanced and optimal selection of state support mechanisms for the search for import substitution tools. Still others recommend not to give in to panic and against the background of the departure of foreign companies from the Russian IT market, do not mindlessly and massively buy foreign equipment and software. The fourth advocate the development of their own production and the revival of technological chains: microchips, plastic cases, metalworking. And only the fifth (read, "RDW Technology") they talk about import substitution on the specifics of their work and, based on the experience of failures and victories, draw attention to a whole range of interrelated problems. In order for the manufacturer to make, and the consumer to buy a Russian-made computer, it is necessary to overcome the personnel hunger.; in microelectronics, and the lack of Russian analogues of the electronic component base, and the technological dominance of world brands, and the lack of financial preferences from the state in relation to those companies that conduct the Russian production of personal computers.
There is a lot of talk about the problem only in one case, when there is no common understanding of how to solve it. Of course, collective intelligence in the current situation is timely. Today it is somehow difficult with the prophets in our Fatherland. But discussions on the margins of Russian IT forums allow bits of common sense to shine. The main thing is that such proposals help pave their own unique Russian path, and not create another structure for a senseless struggle with global IT manufacturers.
It is not for nothing that the first Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Republic of Dagestan, Ramazan ABDULLAYEV, addressing the participants of the IT forum, noted that when switching from foreign equipment to domestic, functionality should be in the first place. It cannot be lost! These words echo the main priority of RDW Technology: all the activities of our company are subordinated to the implementation of seamless (read, "painless") the transition of our customers and partners to computers of domestic production. This is our goal and our contribution to the digital independence of Russia!
