RDW Computers and Bazalt SPO Equip a Classroom at YarGU named after P.G. Demidov with Russian Hardware and Software

RDW Technology (brand RDW Computers) and Bazalt SPO have equipped a classroom at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering of YarGU named after P.G. Demidov. The classroom features 20 RDW Computers system units and 20 monitors from the Ministry of Industry registry, along with the Alt Education operating system (registry entry No. 1912). The interior design of the renovated classroom was developed by an RDW Computers designer.

What Was Installed in the YarGU Classroom

The joint project by RDW Computers, Bazalt SPO, and Demidov University supports the digital transformation of the university and prepares students for work in the Russian technology stack. The IT infrastructure of the classroom includes:

Component Quantity / Value
RDW Computers system units 20 units
RDW Computers monitors 20 units
Registry entry for hardware Unified Register of the Ministry of Industry (URRREP)
Operating system Alt Education
Registry entry for software No. 1912 (Unified Register of Russian Software)
Classroom design Developed by an RDW Computers designer

Alt Education is the only operating system for the education sector included in the Unified Register of Russian Software. This makes the classroom fully compliant with import-substitution requirements and suitable for educational institutions of any level.

What the Project Participants Say

Mikhail Chistyakov, First Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Strategic Development, YarGU named after P.G. Demidov:

"The university highly appreciates the results of our partnership with these Russian companies, which not only deliver on state objectives in the IT industry but also contribute to the digitalization of our educational process. I am confident that students of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering will appreciate the work done, and the knowledge they gain within the faculty walls will help them become first-class and sought-after IT specialists."

Dmitry Chaly, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering, YarGU named after P.G. Demidov:

"For me, as the dean of the faculty, it was important that our university has a classroom equipped with Russian hardware and software solutions. We did this work together with partners who showed patience and persistence and walked with us the entire path from concept to result. The result we achieved is only the beginning of our cooperation. I hope it will continue to develop toward more advanced solutions."

Pavel Kovalenko, Press Secretary, RDW Technology:

"In 2025, RDW Computers ranked 130th in the ranking of the 500 largest IT companies in Russia. The company's success is reflected both in the numbers and in the philosophy of the projects it delivers. That is why we view this stage of IT infrastructure modernization in the context of the state course toward Russia's technological independence. And when you see hardware bearing a native brand within the walls of Demidov University, you understand that our work is needed not by some abstract Russian market, but by those who study here, acquire a profession, and will work in various sectors of the national economy."

Tatiana Gubina, Head of Educational Institutions Relations, Bazalt SPO:

"The opening of a classroom at Demidov University is part of Bazalt SPO's systematic work with educational institutions, which the company carries out within the Alt Academy project. Achieving technological sovereignty and leadership requires deep engineering competencies in the domestic technology stack, and close collaboration between Russian software vendors, hardware manufacturers, and universities — through classrooms and laboratories — is becoming the foundation for building such competencies."

How the First Workshop Went in the New Classroom

The first to assess the technical readiness of the classroom were third-year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering. During the workshop "Using AI on the Alt OS", led by Yaroslav Bykhovsky, a leading specialist at Bazalt SPO's Educational Projects Department, students completed two practical assignments:

  1. Working with AI in Ruwiki. Participants chose one of the articles from the international conference "Development of Computer Technology" SORUCOM, studied it, and used artificial intelligence to receive recommendations for improving the text ahead of publication in the open-access online encyclopedia Ruwiki.
  2. Hands-on with Alt Mir. Students practiced using the cloud service for real-time interaction between a speaker and conference participants with the help of an AI assistant. Alt Mir is a virtual educational environment built on the Alt OS.

Why This Matters for Russian IT Education

The project at YarGU is an example of the practical implementation of the state course toward technological independence in education. The classroom is built entirely on registry-listed solutions:

  • Hardware — RDW Computers system units and monitors listed in the Unified Register of the Ministry of Industry.
  • Software — Alt Education OS from the Unified Register of Russian Software (No. 1912).
  • The project was delivered by two Russian technology partners — RDW Computers and Bazalt SPO.
